Overview

The article lists the steps you have to perform to update your SonarQube Community Build installation.

If you previously used ZIP installation, we recommend installing SonarQube Community Build from a Docker image or Helm chart (Kubernetes/OpenShift). These methods make it easier to update to newer versions and to operate your instance. Install from the ZIP file only if neither of those options is feasible for your environment.

Follow these steps to update your SonarQube Community Build instance to a newer version:

  1. Read Release cycle model.

  2. Determining the update path.

  3. Pre-update steps.

  4. Back up the SonarQube Community Build database.

  5. Performing the update.

  6. Post-update steps.
