# YAML

The analysis of YAML files is disabled by default. You can enable it by setting the `sonar.yaml.activate` property to `true`.

This property does not affect analysis of language / framework specific YAML files.

YAML files that are detected as belonging to [CloudFormation](/sonarqube-server/2026.2/analyzing-source-code/languages/cloudformation.md), [Kubernetes/Helm](/sonarqube-server/2026.2/analyzing-source-code/languages/kubernetes.md) or [Ansible](/sonarqube-server/2026.2/analyzing-source-code/languages/ansible.md) will be additionally analyzed by the dedicated analyzers, next to this general YAML analysis.

## Language-specific properties <a href="#language-specific-properties" id="language-specific-properties"></a>

Discover and update the YAML properties by going to **Administration** > **Configuration** > **General Settings** > **Languages** > **YAML**
