# Sonar product subscriptions

Enable and manage Advanced Security, Sonar Vortex, Remediation Agent, and Hunter Agent subscriptions in SonarQube Server, including consumption and overage.

SonarQube Server Enterprise and Data Center editions support the following product subscriptions:

* [Advanced Security](/sonarqube-server/advanced-security/introduction.md): detects vulnerabilities and malicious packages in third-party dependencies, with quality gates to prevent new risks from entering your codebase.
* [Sonar Vortex](/sonarqube-server/agentic-capabilities.md#sonar-vortex): provides guidance to the agent and automatically analyzes files modified by an AI coding agent to surface issues in seconds.
* [Remediation Agent](/sonarqube-server/agentic-capabilities.md#remediation-agent): automatically generates and verifies code fixes for security, reliability, and maintainability issues, creating ready-to-review pull requests.
* [Hunter Agent](/sonarqube-server/agentic-capabilities.md#hunter-agent): finds high-impact security flaws that static analysis misses, running entirely on Sonar's infrastructure.

Sonar Vortex, Remediation Agent, and Hunter Agent must be activated from the **Active products** table on the License manager page (see [Activating a product subscription](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/license-management.md#activating-a-product-subscription)), using a LicenseSpring-managed license rather than a server ID-based one. See [License management](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/license-management.md#license-types-and-connectivity) for the difference between the two.

To subscribe, contact your Sonar account representative. See [Plans and Pricing](https://www.sonarsource.com/plans-and-pricing/sonarqube/).

## Active products

After your purchase is confirmed, your products appear in the **Active products** table on the **License manager** page. To open **License manager**, go to **Administration** > **Configuration** > **License manager**.

The table has four columns:

* **Products**: the product name.
* **Status**: whether the product is enabled or awaiting activation.
* **Base usage limit**: your consumption against the base allowance included in your subscription.
* **Overage limit**: your consumption against the overage cap you set to control overage costs.

## Enable a product

After purchasing a subscription, the Sonar sales team enables your product in LicenseSpring. Once enabled, activate each product individually before using it. In the **Status** column next to the product, select **Enable now**, then follow the on-screen instructions and agree to the terms of use to complete activation.

## Track consumption

The **Base usage limit** and **Overage limit** columns show how much of your base allowance and overage cap have been consumed. Each product tracks consumption in the following units:

| Product           | Unit                                                                                                                        | Resets             |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------ |
| Advanced Security | Full access | Not applicable |
| Sonar Vortex      | [Sonar Vortex](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/ai-features/sonar-vortex.md#what-counts-as-a-tool-call)            | Monthly            |
| Remediation Agent | [Remediation Agent](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/ai-features/remediation-agent.md#what-counts-as-a-suggestion) | Monthly            |
| Hunter Agent      | [Hunter Agent](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/ai-features/hunter-agent.md#what-counts-as-a-scan-unit)            | At license renewal |

Hunter Agent's counter resets at the end of your contract.

Your Purchased LOC limit is a fixed allocation from your license and doesn't reset. However, your LOC overage limit will reset monthly. For complete details, see the [LOC overage](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/license-management/overage-activation.md#loc-overage) article.

### Usage notifications

Administrators receive email notifications when consumption reaches the following thresholds:

* 80% of the base usage allowance is consumed.
* 100% of the base usage allowance is consumed.

Lines of Code notifications on your primary subscription work differently: instead of fixed thresholds, you set a single customizable threshold that triggers a notification when your remaining Purchased LOC falls below it. See the [Lines of Code](/sonarqube-server/server-update-and-maintenance/monitoring/lines-of-code.md#checking-your-lines-of-code-consumption) page for more information.

To avoid being blocked when your base allowance runs out, activate overage in advance. See the [Overage activation](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/license-management/overage-activation.md) page.

## Overage activation

For products that support overage, the **Overage limit** column shows your current consumption against the overage cap. To activate or manage overage, see the [Overage activation](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/license-management/overage-activation.md) page.

## Configure an LLM provider

AI agents in SonarQube Server require access to a large language model (LLM). Register an LLM provider once for the whole instance, then select it on each agent's page under **Administration** > **Configuration** > **AI capabilities**.

For setup instructions, see the [LLM providers](/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/ai-features/llm-providers.md) page.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.sonarsource.com/sonarqube-server/instance-administration/license-management/product-subscriptions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
