Typically, offline installations start with a download of SonarLint from your IDE's Marketplace.
SonarLint is available as an extension for Visual Studio versions 2022. SonarLint for Visual Studio is available for Visual Studio 2019 and 2017, but they are no longer supported.
If you don't have access to your IDE's Marketplace, the SonarLint for Visual Studio VSIX release files are available here.
Since March 1, 2022, SonarLint for Visual Studio 2017 has not been supported. After SonarLint for Visual Studio 8.0, no new features will be added to SonarLint for Visual Studio 2019. This means that there will not be any new updates to these versions.
Critical bugs will be addressed in SonarLint for Visual Studio 2019 for a period of 6 months after April, 2024. We encourage users to take advantage of the latest enhancements by updating to SonarLint for Visual Studio 2022.
Instructions
To install SonarLint offline, you must first download the SonarLint for Visual Studio executable file from the Visual Studio Marketplace. Administrators can download the plugin and distribute the installer internally if needed.
- Go to the Visual Studio marketplace and search for sonarlint.
- Choose the SonarLint for Visual Studio version 2019, or 2022, that corresponds to your Visual Studio version.
- Click Download.
- Once the file is on your disk, double-click it to launch the installation.
The extension will be installed after all instances of Visual Studio have been closed.
