Subscribing to Slack notifications

SonarQube Cloud integration with Slack a beta feature, subject to the terms here.

If your admin has connected your Slack workspace to SonarQube Cloud, you can receive real-time notifications on analysis results directly in Slack.

To subscribe to SonarQube Cloud notifications for your project, you subscribe to your project in the Slack channel of your choice.

Step 1: Log in to the SonarQube Cloud App for Slack

Logging in to the SonarQube Cloud App for Slack connects your Slack account to your SonarQube Cloud account. You only need to do this once.

To log in to the SonarQube Cloud App for Slack:

  1. In your Slack workspace, navigate to Apps > SonarQube App for Slack.
  2. In the Messages tab, type /sonarqube connect. You will be prompted to connect your account.

Step 2: Prepare the channel to be used for subscription

You must select the Slack channel to be used to receive your project’s notifications. You can create a new one. Note that:

  • All channel members will receive the SonarQube Cloud notifications. 
  • You can use the same channel to receive the notifications on different projects distributed across various organizations.

If not already done, add the SonarQube App for Slack to this channel. You may need specific permissions to add the app to private channels.

To check if the SonarQube App is added to your channel:

  1. In your Slack workspace, navigate to your channel. 
  2. Select the More actions button and then Open channel details.
  3. Select the Integrations tab. You’ll see here a list of apps that have been added to your channel.

To add  the SonarQube App for Slack to your channel:

  1. In your Slack workspace, navigate to your channel. 
  2. In the channel, type /invite @SonarQube.

Step 3: Subscribe your channel to your project

Make sure that:

  • You have the Browse permission on the project in SonarQube Cloud.
  • Your channel is not already subscribed to the project: see Viewing your active subscriptions below.

 To subscribe your channel to your project:

  1. In SonarQube Cloud, copy your project key. See Viewing and copying project information in Retrieving projects.
  2. In your Slack workspace, navigate to the channel in which you want to enable the subscription. 
  3. In the channel, type /subscribe <project_key> .

Unsubscribing a channel from a project

To unsubscribe a channel from a project, you need the Browse permission on the project in SonarQube Cloud. 

 To unsubscribe a channel from a project:

  1. In SonarQube Cloud, copy the project key. See Viewing and copying project information in Retrieving projects.
  2. In your Slack workspace, navigate to the channel subscribed to your project. Alternatively:
    1. In your Slack workspace, navigate to Apps > SonarQube App for Slack.
    2. In the Home tab, locate the active subscription you want to disable and select View. You’re redirected to the corresponding Slack channel.
  3. In the channel, type /unsubscribe <project_key>.
